The Front Hall

Casino Hotels

Four Canadian resorts are set down here as hotels: what the buildings are, where they stand and which shared rooms the operators list. Concert halls, restaurants, spas and grounds are covered. The licensed floor is not described anywhere on this site.

Montréal Casino & Hotel

Montréal, Québec, Canada

Montréal Casino & Hotel stands on Île Notre-Dame, in the island park that holds the buildings left from the international exhibition of 1967. Two pavilions raised for it, one for France and one for Québec, were joined and reworked into the present complex. The site lies in the Saint Lawrence, a short drive from the centre of the city.

The older pavilion structures give the building its tall central well and its stacked floors, reached by escalators that run the height of it. The operator lists several restaurants, a cabaret room used for live performances, and rooms for private functions. Service runs in French and English. The licensed floor is outside these notes.

Ask the resort about hours for the restaurants and the cabaret room, which move through the year. The island is reached by bridge, by shuttle and by the park road, and parking is arranged by the park rather than by the resort. A written enquiry is the simplest way to settle it.

Fallsview Casino Resort

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

Fallsview Casino Resort is cut into the slope above the Niagara gorge, on the Canadian side of the river. The ground drops away sharply here, so the building is entered near the road at one level and stands several storeys above the water at another. Guest rooms and dining rooms face the falls and the parkland along the rim.

The operator lists a theatre used for concerts and touring performances, a spa, an indoor pool, a shopping arcade and a long run of restaurants and cafés. Covered walkways link the building to neighbouring hotels and to the parkway above the gorge. The licensed floor is not described on this site.

Confirm performance dates, spa hours and restaurant service with the resort before travelling, since the programme changes week by week. Walkway routes and parking can also change while roadworks are under way along the gorge. A short message to the resort settles all of it.

River Rock Casino Resort

Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

River Rock Casino Resort stands on the bank of the middle arm of the Fraser River in Richmond, British Columbia. Vancouver's airport lies a few minutes away, and a rapid transit station serves the site directly. Guest rooms, restaurants and a large event hall are gathered under one roof, with the water on the northern side.

The operator lists a theatre used for concerts, a spa, an indoor pool and a range of restaurants and cafés, with meeting and banquet rooms in their own wing. Moorings and a walk along the river adjoin the property on its northern side. The licensed floor is left out of these notes altogether.

Before a visit, ask which restaurants are serving and whether the theatre has a performance that evening. The river walk and the moorings are managed apart from the hotel and can be closed for maintenance. Email is the plainest way to confirm any of this.

Casino Rama Resort

Rama, Ontario, Canada

Casino Rama Resort stands near Orillia in central Ontario, on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, on whose reserve the site was built. The setting is lakes and farmland rather than a town, and guests arrive by road. A guest room tower, restaurants and an entertainment hall are joined in one low complex.

The operator lists an entertainment centre used for concerts and touring performances, a spa, an indoor pool and several restaurants, from a buffet through to table service. Conference rooms sit alongside them, and the grounds hold their own parking and a covered approach. The licensed floor is not described here, and neither is its equipment.

Ask the resort about performance dates, spa appointments and restaurant hours, all of which vary through the year. The road approach from the highways north of Orillia can be slow in winter weather. A written enquiry before travelling avoids arriving to a closed door.

The Front Hall is independent and has no tie to the four resorts on this page. Everything here comes from published sources and can change without notice. Nothing is sold, booked or arranged through this site. Hours, concert dates and services should be settled with the resort itself before a visit.

Entry to the licensed floor is restricted: nineteen and over in Ontario and British Columbia, eighteen and over in Québec. Gambling is not a way to make money. Help is available from ConnexOntario on 1-866-531-2600, in Québec on 1-800-461-0140, and in British Columbia on 1-888-795-6111. This site is not an operator and provides no such activity.
